A huge THANK YOU to all of our amazing community volunteers who spent time this summer weeding, planting, and sprucing up the gardens at Wayne Elementary! 🌻
Thanks to your hard work and generosity, our school grounds are looking better than ever. The gardens are thriving, the campus is shining, and Wayne is ready to welcome students back for a fantastic new school year!
We are so grateful for a community that shows up for our school — rain or shine, weeds and all. You make Wayne a wonderful place to learn and grow!

Wayne Elementary Kicks Off Read to ME Challenge!
Wayne Elementary is excited to launch the Read to ME Challenge! Throughout the month, we're welcoming community members to share their love of reading by connecting stories to their jobs, hobbies, or volunteer work.
Today, retired teacher Tom Wells helped us kick off this special event by reading to students during lunch. His visit set the perfect tone for a month of inspiring read-alouds that show students how reading connects to every part of life. Thank you, Mr. Wells!
The Read to ME Challenge encourages reading across Maine communities, building literacy skills and fostering connections between students and the people who make our community strong. Throughout the month, we'll welcome even more guests to share stories and spark curiosity in our young readers.
Want to participate? Read to any student in your life for 15 minutes a day and post your own picture to social media with #ReadtoME or #ReadaloudME

Parent-Teacher Conferences Tonight and 11/19, 3-7 PM!
[Image Caption: Fifth-grade students have been taking an active role in preparing for conferences, adding standards-based bookmarks to highlight work samples. This level of student engagement is a testament to their growing ownership of their own learning.]
We are excited to welcome all families to our Parent-Teacher Conferences tonight! This is a wonderful opportunity for you to connect with your child's teacher and learn more about their academic and social-emotional progress so far this year.
During conferences, teachers will be discussing the skills and concepts your child has been learning in each subject area. You'll have the chance to look through work samples that highlight their growth and development. Teachers will also be available to address any questions or concerns you may have about your child's experience in the classroom.
Our goal is to partner closely with families to support each student's learning and success. We encourage you to come prepared with your own questions or thoughts to share during the conference. Together, we can ensure your child has the resources and guidance they need to thrive.
We look forward to meeting with you tonight and celebrating your child's accomplishments!

In kindergarten classrooms following the CKLA program, students are now practicing spelling simple CVC (consonant-vowel-consonant) words through a variety of engaging activities and games that help reinforce phonics concepts. As part of their unit on plants, students identified their favorite fruits and labeled their drawings. Today we are showcasing the amazing work of our youngest learners! Nice job applying all that knowledge and skills- watermelon was a tough word!
